Balance and falls prevention

Home Health Rehab are passionate about balance and falls prevention programs. Australian statistics show 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will fall and 1 in 2 people over the age of 80 will fall. Of those who fall ½ will fall again. Falls are the leading cause of injury in the over 65 year age group.

 

What can we do to reduce you falls risk?

Research has shown exercise programs which include balance training, have up to a 42% reduction in the rate of falls. Strength, flexibility, balance and reaction time are considered the most readily modified risk factors for falls. It has been shown that adherence to exercise is highest when the program is physio-led and there is moderate home visit support.

 

We see clients in their own homes, retirement village and aged care facilities. We teach evidenced based individualized balance and strength exercises to help rehabilitate clients from injury, illness/surgery or general decline to decrease the risk of falling and maximize mobility. We aim to keep you living independently for as long as possible.
